Our restaurant is totally accessible. Some of our changing rooms, massage rooms, baths, and lodging rooms can also accommodate individuals with mobility issues. There is accessible parking at both the restaurant and spa. We have twelve private gender-neutral changing rooms, providing a new level of comfort for those who have been hesitant to use a public locker room.

The spa has 3 levels. An elevator is available if stairs are a challenge.

Please mention any mobility issue when making your reservations.

Impaired judgment and loss of consciousness can result from consumption of alcohol before bathing in hot water. We strongly recommend that if you want to imbibe, you do it after using the hot tubs. However, we do not prohibit alcohol at the spa and ask you to inform us at check in if you have glass containers so that we can provide a bottle caddy and/or non-breakable cups. Glass, hard floors, and bare feet are a bad combination.

We ask guests to guarantee all reservations with a credit card. This card will be charged if you cancel or change without giving us adequate notice.  

Spa

• For hot tub suites, massage, facials, and spa treatments, we require 24 hours notice to cancel or change without a penalty.
• If cancellation occurs less than 24 hours prior or you don't show for your service, 50% of the cost of the service will be charged to your card on file.

Lodging 

• Cancellations 8 or more days prior to the reservation will not be charged.
• Cancellations or changes 2-7 days prior will be charged for the first night. 
• Cancellations or changes after 4pm on the day before check in will be charged for the entire stay. 

izanami Dining

• If you need to cancel, please give us at least 24 hours notice prior to the time of your reservation.
• If cancellation occurs less than 24 hours prior or you don't show for your dinner reservation, $25 per person will be charged to your card on file.

There is spotty cell reception at Ten Thousand Waves. It's a blessing for those seeking to escape the tethers of technology, but it can be worrisome for those who need to be connected. There is free wi-fi in all lodging rooms, the spa lobby, and at izanami. We can provide the network and password to enable wi-fi calling.

Spa - Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your first spa reservation. Arrive 45-60 prior to your massage if you plan to visit the Grand Bath first.

Lodging - Check in starts at 4pm. We are available any time from 4:00 pm-9:00 pm in the spa lobby for in-person check-in. There is no early check in.  If necessary, instructions for late check-in will be made available with your confirmation letter. 

If you will be transferring to a different room during your stay, you will not have access to your room between noon and 4:00 pm. It takes approximately four hours to do a proper job of cleaning your room.

Check out is at 12:00pm. Late checkouts are available until 1:00pm with a $50 fee. Final payments may be posted after check out in the case of room damages or missing items.

At Ten Thousand Waves, we are inclusive, not exclusive. We welcome well-behaved children in our lodging and private tubs. There is no charge for children under 4 feet in any private tub (2 kids maximum per adult). Lodging prices are for two adults per night. Additional guests, including children 8 or older will be charged an additional $60 per night.

There are age restrictions for some services: massages, facials, the Relax Room, the Grand Bath, and Reserved Community Soaking are only available to those who are 16 or over. Those under the age of 18 must have the permission of an adult to use our facilities alone.

Our great Japanese restaurant izanami is open every day. See hours. Drinks, but not food, may be taken into hot tub areas. Please don't bring glass into the locker rooms or tubs—we can provide bottle caddies and/or non-breakable cups. Consumption of alcohol before or during bathing is not advised.

Hot water and sudden temperature changes can be stressful to your body. If you are pregnant or have chronic health problems, always consult your health care provider before bathing.  If you have recently tested positive or been exposed to COVID, please wait before visiting.

Some common diseases like seasonal flu and COVID are overwhelmingly transmitted by aerosols. We take measures to reduce airborne pathogens, including HEPA filtration in every massage room, ventilation throughout the property, and UV light.

Some of the things we do at Ten Thousand Waves to make your visit as safe as possible:

• We monitor the air in every building to ensure adequate fresh air intake
• Every hot tub environment has its own private changing area
• There are multiple private gender-neutral changing rooms
• We have the choice of year-round heated outdoor dining

We love Japanese bathing and operate a few small tours to the great hidden hot springs of Japan each fall. These are tours for people who don't do tours. See more details here.

All private spa suites are clothing optional. Swim suits are required in the Grand Bath and for Reserved Community Soaking. Please feel free to wear suits in any of the other tubs. (Rentals available at the front desk for $4.00, tax included)

Therapeutic Massage is done without clothing. Our therapists are specially trained to drape discreetly with sheets and towels. Shiatsu massage is done wearing loose clothing. This treatment may be a better option for the modest.

There is plenty of parking at street level, and limited additional parking at the spa level, approximately 60 vertical feet higher. Those with physical limitations should choose our shuttle service. The walk from the lower lot, however, is very pleasant and provides a good transition from your busy day to the tranquility of Ten Thousand Waves. Passengers may be dropped off at the entrance to izanami or the spa. There is accessible parking adjacent to both the spa and restaurant.

We accept cash, in-state checks (with credit card ID), debit cards, Visa, Master Card, American Express, ApplePay, and Discover. Please be aware that for debit card charges, banks will often hold back double the retail amount for up to 7 days. Payment may also be made with a Ten Thousand Waves gift certificate.

If you have a good experience, your gratuity means a lot to your therapist.

At Ten Thousand Waves, we are inclusive, not exclusive. All lodging rooms are pet-friendly. Please advise us at the time of reservation if you will be bringing a pet. We provide treats upon arrival, dog beds, and bowls. Some rooms have  dog-proof courtyards  (unless he's a champion jumper).  If you leave your pets unattended in the rooms, you will be financially responsible for any damage or disturbance to other guests from a barking dog. Please do not leave your pet unattended. There is a $40 room charge per night for one or more pets.

Pets are allowed in private baths enclosures at the spa, but not in the water, please!

We are happy to welcome guests who need prenatal accommodations. For massage, we are able to offer targeted therapeutic bodywork, and relax & unwind throughout your pregnancy. All facials are also available through the second trimester. Our private Shoji hot tub can be turned down to 99 degrees with advance reservation.

Smoking of tobacco or marijuana is strictly prohibited indoors and in all tubs at Ten Thousand Waves. You will be subject to a $250 fine if there is evidence of indoor smoking in lodging or private facilities. Outdoor smoking areas are provided.

How private is my tub?

• In a private tub it’s just you and your friends
• In Reserved Community Soaking, it’s you and up to nine other people
• In the Grand Bath, it’s you and a small number of guests staying on property and receiving treatments
• In any treatment, it’s just you and your therapist in the room – we no longer offer couples massages

We use state-of-the-art purification systems for all baths, utilizing ultraviolet light, hydrogen peroxide, and ozone. The entire water content of each tub passes through the sanitation system every twenty minutes. We perform bacterial cultures weekly on all tubs to ensure that all systems work properly. Often the result is drinking water quality.  The source of the highly mineralized water used in the baths is a 900-foot deep well.
